WHAT IS ALL ABOUT MAGNESIUM
Magnesium is the eighth most common element in the earth’s crust and the sea contains trillions of tonnes of magnesium and other electrolytes. It is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body and seawater contains the same magnesium ions as we have in our blood. Magnesium is a life essential along with water and oxygen. A structural element of our blood, bones, muscles, organs and the powerhouse responsible for +300 enzymatic reactions in our body on a daily basis. Magnesium is vital to our immune system to maintain a good health and wellness, and it is one of the most important mineral in sports nutrition. It plays a fundamental role in optimal muscles contraction, energy production, oxygen absorption, electrolyte balance, flexibility and skeletal strength. To understand magnesium, we must understand where magnesium is within the human body and all the different type available in the market.
MAGNESIUM RATIO IN THE HUMAN BODY
50% is incorporated in body structures like bones, teeth, organ tissue, etc. This magnesium is not available for the cells to be exchanged over the cell membrane in order to play it’s role in more than 300 enzymatic biologic processes.
50% is incorporated in the body fluids : 49% is available in the body cells, called the interstitial space. Interstitium is the fluid all our cells are living in. Then 1% is in the blood serum. This is the reason that measuring serum-magnesium doesn’t say anything about one’s magnesium status. Magnesium is an invisible deficiency as it can’t be measured from a blood test.
DIFFERENT TYPE OF MAGNESIUM
The benefits of magnesium are no mystery to the modern athlete. The type, method, and proper dosage, however, are highly in question in a market saturated with so many oral magnesium supplements. For example, Magnesium Threonate focuses on the brain, Mg Glycinate on the relaxation, Mg Taurate on the muscles, Mg Sulphates on recovery.
There is so many other types of magnesium but the great news is that Magnesium Chloride covers it all and is recognized by science as the “Master Magnesium Compound”. Magnesium Chloride is the only magnesium totally ionized. Ionized magnesium is the form of magnesium that the body use so it would end up in your cells immediately.
Magnesium Chloride is the main ingredients used within ALKA12’ pure strenght formula. Not only it has the hightest concentartion reached by science but it comes from the purest source on earth at -3000M deep sea water, far away from man-made pollutants.
ORAL MAGNESIUM
Magnesium L-threonate (MgT) is a novel and proprietary form of magnesium developed by scientists at MIT. It’s better absorbed than magnesium oxide and has been used to support brain health and sleep. In this form, magnesium is bound to L-threonate, a magnesium transporter that helps it cross the blood/brain barrier. Magnesium L-threonate has been shown to have a calming effect and better to use in evenings.
Magnesium Glycinate (C4H8MgN2O4) is another highly bioavailable form of magnesium. Magnesium glycinate is the magnesium salt of glycine, an organic compound and classified as a “non-essential” amino acid because it can be made in small amounts by the human body itself. Magnesium Glycinate is used in the optimization of sleep, memory, bone health, blood pressure and blood sugar control, headaches and leg cramps, muscle relaxation (least likely to cause stomach emptying).
Magnesium Malate (C4H4MgO5) is considered a magnesium salt with high bioavailability. It is an important mineral that can found naturally in a variety of foods and plays a key role in nearly every aspect of your health. Magnesium Malate may be linked to several health benefits, including improvements in mood, blood sugar control, exercise performance, and chronic pain.
Magnesium Acetate ( Mg-C2H3O2-2) is the magnesium salt of acetic acid. Acetic acid is a simple monocarboxylic acid containing two carbons. It has a role as a protic solvent, a food acidity regulator, and antimicrobial food preservative. Magnesium acetate tetrahydrate is used as a source of water and electrolytes when combined with dextrose and other salts to form intravenous infusions. This injection can be used for patients with carbohydrate or magnesium deficiency, insulin hypoglycemia, constipation or hypertension during pregnancy
Why those Types of Magnesium should be avoided by the Athletes
Magnesium Oxide (MgO) is an in-organic compound that occurs in nature as the mineral periclase. It combines quickly with water to form magnesium hydroxide. It is used as an antacid and mild laxative and has many nonmedicinal uses. It is one of the most common forms of magnesium that you can find in all pharmacies and groceries stores. Magnesium oxide represents a 4% absorption rate and use for constipation issues. Not all magnesium oxide is absorbed, so once it reaches the small intestine, it draws in additional fluid and stimulates bowel movements. The other problem with magnesium oxide is that your body absorbs what it can, and excretes the rest pretty quickly, so won’t maintain a steady level of magnesium in your bloodstream.
Magnesium Citrate (C6H6MgO7) is poorly absorbs by the body and considered the worst magnesium due to is laxative effect and you may lose all your minerals and other electrolytes in the body. it may cause cramping and nausea.
Cautious : Taking frequent doses of dietary oral magnesium supplements can cause adverse effects, including diarrhea, nausea, and stomach cramps. Extremely high intakes of magnesium can lead to an irregular heartbeat and potentially a cardiac arrest, which can be dangerous.
TOPICAL MAGNESIUM
Magnesium Sulphate (MgSO4) is one of the most common forms of magnesium and with the vast majority being synthetically manufactured for mass market. When crystallized, it forms the substance we know now as Epsom salts. Epsom Salts are not in fact salts but a mineral found in water containing high levels of magnesium and sulfate and can also be sourced naturally from open water such as the Great Lakes, Dead Sea or naturally occurring springs. These sources can be exposed to man-made pollutants and heavy metals which can contaminate the resulting crystals. These pollutants include aluminum and mercury, which can have a negative effect on health if allowed to build-up over time. Those don’t contain sodium chloride, which is the active ingredient in salt. We call it ‘salt’ due to its crystalline structure . Regardless of its chemical makeup, Epsom salt is still hugely beneficial to our health. First distilled in Surrey England in the 1800s, the mineral is now used primarily in healing muscle injuries and for warm baths for relaxation and recovery.
Now you may ask yourself if the Dead Sea Salt is a magnesium. The Dead Sea is a giant salt lake that was formed more than fifteen million years ago between Jordania, Israel and Palestine. In regular ocean water, 85 percent of the salt is sodium chloride (table salt you have in your kitchen). However, Dead Sea salt is only 12-18 % of sodium chloride and the rest is a mixture of other nutrients, primarily magnesium salts. In Dead Sea salts you will find 21 minerals which include magnesium, calcium, sulfur, bromide, iodine, sodium, zinc and potassium.
ALKA12™ IS MORE PURE AND EFFECTIVE THAN ANY OTHER MAGNESIUM AVAILABLE ON EARTH AND THIS IS WHY.
If your are looking for something more effective than oral magnesium , Epsom Salts and the Dead Sea Salts, then you must opt for the magnesium chloride which has proven by science to be better absorbed by the skin and best assimilated by the body. There is multiple source of magnesium chloride and ALKA12™ formula contains the most natural and purest magnesium chloride from earth.
MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE: THE ONLY MAGNESIUM TOTALLY IONIZED
Magnesium Chloride (MgCl2) is a type of salt that originally comes from seawater and recognized by science as the “Master Magnesium Compound” due to its high potency and efficient action. Furthermore, magnesium chloride is the only magnesium totally ionized. Ionized magnesium is the form of magnesium that the body use. its means it has an electric charge to it, therefore magnesium chloride is fully assimilated by the body and it will end up in the body cells instantly. Ionized magnesium is the most superior from of magnesium. According to scientific research and to the Magnesium Heath Institute, topical magnesium chloride is the optimum way to replenish cellular levels since every cells in our body bathes in it. Magnesium Chloride has proven by science to be best absorbed by the skin and a really safe method for men, women, children, and during pregnancy. Topical Magnesium Chloride does not interfere with other medications and there is no side effect known.
Magnesium Chloride is the main ingredient used within ALKA12™ pure strength formula and it comes from a -3000 meters Deep Sea Natural Source known as the purest and most natural source on earth. The source has been protected from man-made pollutants, ensuring its quality and purity. This layer of magnesium comes from the Zechstein Sea that existed 250 millions years ago when our continents were together in one huge land mass called Pangaea. As millions of years passed , the sea dried out and has never been exposed to modern pollution. This makes ALKA12™ topical magnesium products an extremely pure and natural resource.
